Good peaceprize
The last weeks I’ve felt like one of the very few persons who believe that Obama deserves Nobel’s Peace Prize. It has become a trend here whining about what has Obama done to deserve this. As if any of us has done anything more. I don’t know who deserves it more. The political climate has changed after he was inaugurated. And he has great visions. I support the comitee in that is much of what the prize is about. Although I must admit that I would have waited some years to see how things turn out first. That dosen’t matter today. The prize is given. Now let’s cheer Obama and support him for a better world. Not be conservative, neglect the prize, sticking our nose in the air. No, let us make sure this prize is worth something!
I recommend this commentary by Harald Stanghelle, political editor of Aftenposten. Two teasers:
Core. Nobel critics dare not suggest who deserve the peace prize more than Barack Obama. For critics core is not dissatisfaction with what he has done, but expectations that Obama will do so much more.

This year’s Nobel Peace Prize goes into this tradition. But virtually all other politicians with a place in history has received the Nobel Prize as a stimulating shoulder clap at the end of the critical political processes. Barack Obama gets the price right at the start of his political life. Thate is almost unprecedented at this year’s award.
But for a start. For an expectation of more of the same. And what a possible fall – mostly for Barack Obama, but also for the Norwegian Nobel Committee. – Harald Stanghelle
